Meeting with Dutch Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade



Mr. David Lezhava, Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia met with Mr. Simon Smits, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade of the Netherlands, Meeting was also attended by H.E. Kote Surguladze, Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of Georgia to the Netherlands and H.E. Hans Horbach, Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Netherlands to Georgia.
Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia thanked the visitor for the continuous support extended by the Netherlands to Georgia for years. Assistance of our partners is significant for the development of agriculture. Namely, it is instrumental for the financing of project initiatives involving rehabilitation of irrigation systems. As Mr. Lezhava noted, cooperation of the Ministries of Finance of the Netherlands and Georgia has a long history. Capacity building, improvements in tax administration, internal financial control in the public sector are among the topics supported by the Dutch Government in Georgia.
It is worth noting that Dutch Executive Directors represent Georgia at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Hence, it is very important that we build strong partnership on the grounds of this close contact and cooperation.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade of the Netherlands noted that Georgia stands out with its business environment and expressed readiness to actively support the country's authorities in future.
