H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia met with Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) within his visit to the United States of America (USA).
Parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and details of the Annual Meeting and Business Forum of EBRD to be hosted by Georgia in mid-May 2015.
«Georgia is a reliable partner of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The Annual Meeting and Business Forum which will take place in Georgia in a few weeks are very important. We have invited around 1500 business persons, government officials and civil society representatives to inter alia get exposed to the reforms implemented in Georgia. Last year EBRD carried out projects in the value of 215 million Euros in different sectors of the country’s economy. It is worth noting that climate is supportive of investments in Georgia» noted Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President of EBRD.
«We have close ties with EBRD. Georgia has been implementing a great number of projects with support of the Bank. Majority of its investments are made in the private sector. EBRD plans to launch several sizable project initiatives in the nearest future. By hosting the Annual Meeting and Business Forum of EBRD in Tbilisi, we are getting yet another significant stimulus and opportunity to attract new investments to the country» noted H.E. Minister of Finance also met with Ms. Keiko Honda, Executive Vice President of Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) to discuss the prospects of under-righting the large foreign direct investments to Georgia and MIGA support towards this end.
