MINISTERS OF FINANCE OF GEORGIA AND CHINA MEET TODAY



H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia met with his Chinese colleague on 28th June, 2015.

H.E. Lou Jiwey, Minister of Finance of the People’s Republic of China discussed prospects of intensified trade and economic cooperation with his Georgian colleague. This interaction should lead to an increased volume of Chinese investment in Georgia and higher public awareness of Georgian commodities at the Chinese market.

Focus was made at the meeting on the significance of Georgia as a transport and logistics hub of the region.

Minister of Finance of Georgia thanked his Chinese counterpart for the support extended by the host authorities to Georgia inter alia on the modernization of customs infrastructure of the Georgian Revenue Service (GRS) of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

Ministry of Finance of China expressed its initiative to simplify the customs clearance procedures for the increased turnover of cargo in the countries positioned along the so called Silk Road, which will be equally significant for Georgia.

H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia invited his Chinese colleague to Tbilisi, Georgia. As publicly known, with an initiative of H.E. Irakli Gharibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia it is planned to hold a Forum of New Silk Road in Tbilisi. Delegates will discuss new ideas related to transport, energy, trade and intensified business contacts within the scope of the historic Silk Road.
