JOINT PRESS CONFERENCE OF MOFG AND MOCST



„Reconstruction works of Sarpi Customs Check Point from the Turkish side will commence in about one month” noted H.E. Bulent Tufenkci, Minister of Customs and Trade of the Republic of Turkey at a joint press conference held with H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia.

Interesting and engaging was the meeting with his Turkish colleague in the opinion of the Minister of Finance. He thanked the distinguished visitor for the demonstrated support towards the territorial integrity and independence of Georgia.
“Currently, land border of Georgia with Turkey deploys 3 Customs Check Points. We have agreed to enforce a joint management of all three. We will exchange information electronically to accelerate the transit, which is of great importance to Georgia” noted the Minister of Finance of Georgia.
As noted by the hosting official, Government of Georgia has been instructed by H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of the country to launch the construction of a new, Maradid-Muratli Customs Check Point at Turkish-Georgian border. Visiting official once again thanked his Georgian colleague for this initiative.
Distinguished visitor once again stressed the importance of development prospects of cooperation between Georgia and Republic of Turkey, deepened economic relations and boosted trade volumes.
“Our relationship is exemplary for other countries, our neighbors and the entire world. This very aspect gives us ground to believe that we need to advance our current relationship to a higher level in every area. Georgia is a significant country to us not only for bilateral relations, but also for transit” noted the Minister of Customs and Trade of the Republic of Turkey.

Parties also spoke about the importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Karsi Railway Project.

Outright gratitude was expressed to H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, Government of Georgia and people of Georgia by the Minister of Customs and Trade of the Republic of Turkey at the press conference for the solidarity expressed during the military coup attempt in Turkey. He also noted that predominantly remarkable was the visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia shortly after the referred occurrences in Turkey.
