On July 19, 2018, Minister of Finance of Georgia Ivane Matchavariani held a meeting with Debora Wetzel, Senior Director of The Governance Global Practice - GGP.
On the meeting, which also was attended by World Bank Regional Director in the South Caucasus Mercy Tembon, ongoing projects supported by the World Bank were discussed.
Discussions mainly were focused on reforms implemented in the sphere of public administration and issues related to cooperation between Georgia and the World Bank in this regard.
The parties reaffirmed the positive assessment of Georgia's Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) by 2017, which is confirmed by the World bank with the support of the PEFA Secretariat and European Union. At the meeting it was noted that Georgia has made significant progress in the framework of the state finance management reform.
The Minister of Finance informed the guests about the implemented and planned reforms by the Government of Georgia, that ensures the creation of the state institutes with efficient, transparent, accountable and high democratic standards.
The World Bank's representatives expressed support for Georgia and expressed readiness to continue their partnership in support of reforms aimed at transparency of public finances and fiscal sustainability in the country.
