The Minister of Finance Ivane Matchavariani met with the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund



Within the framework of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings, the Finance Minister Ivane Matchavariani met with the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Tao Zhang. 

The sides discussed the progress of the International Monetary Fund's "Advanced Financing Mechanism" program, Fiscal Indicators of 2018, talked about the country's macroeconomic situation and planned economic reforms. It was noted once again at the meeting that all criteria envisaged by the program are fulfilled by Georgia.

The meeting was attended by President of National Bank Koba Gvenetadze. 
 
The fundamental principles of the existing program with Monetary Fund are envisaged in the development of the basic parameters of the 2019 budget project, which implies restriction of ongoing expenditures, a gradual reduction of budget deficit and addressing the existing resources to finance infrastructural projects.

The Minister of Finance emphasized the importance of partnership with the International Monetary Fund and expressed hope that the IMF's meetings will be fruitful in Tbilisi, October.

In turn, the Deputy Managing Director of the IMF noted that the International Monetary Fund will still support the Government of Georgia in the process of reforms aimed at achieving sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
