Ivane Matchavariani: We have agreed with the International Monetary Fund on successful completion of the fourth review of our program



“We have agreed with the International Monetary Fund on successful completion of the fourth review of our program”, - has announced Ivane Matchavariani, Minister of Finance, today after the summary meeting with the International Monetary Fund Mission, on a joint briefing with the head of the mission and the president of the National Bank.

According to his statement, the program ongoing by Extended Fund Facility in Georgia is one of the best and is fully based on the agenda of reforms of the Government of Georgia.

"Since the start of the International Monetary Fund Program in Georgia until today, we have proved the principle of that basic fiscal policy, which we had aimed together with our partners. These goals are: control of current expenditure, acceleration of capital expenditure, normalization of deficit. One year before the completion of the program, we can now firmly say that the above goals have been successfully implemented " – has noted the Minister of Finance.

As he said, the predicted economic growth for Georgia will be 4.6% for this year, and according to this indicator our country is an outstanding leader in the region.

The International Monetary Fund Mission was on a two-week working visit in Georgia, during which they have been acquainted with the economic situation and implemented reforms in the Country. The members of the mission, headed by Mercedes Vera-Martin, today had the wrap-up meeting with the Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze. The Board of Executive Directors of IMF will discuss fourth review of program ongoing under Extended Fund Facility in June.
