35.7 million Euros to support Georgia's digital transformation



Today, the Minister of Finance of Georgia Ivane Matchavariani and the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Sebastian Molineus electronically signed an agreement on provision of 35.7 million euros to finance the Log-in Georgia project, which aims to increase high-speed Internet access throughout the country.

The project consists of three components:
• Increasing access to affordable broadband internet;
• Promoting the use of digital services related to high-speed Internet;
• Project implementation support.

The project will be implemented by Open Net for five years with the support of the Communications Commission. The process will be overseen by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia The project Log-in Georgia was developed by the Government of Georgia in cooperation with the World Bank within the framework of the National Strategy for Development of Broadband Networks for 2020-2025. The strategy was signed by Prime-Minister Giorgi Gakharia in January 2020. The World Bank Executive Board decided to allocate € 35.7 million in funding for the project on August 28, 2020.
