 Minister of Finance of Georgia Meets the IMF Deputy Managing Director

Within the framework of the Annual Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, H.E. Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia and H.E. Natia Turnava, President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) met Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF.

The parties reviewed the country’s fiscal and monetary policies. Discussions also covered ongoing and planned reforms, cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and future plans. 

The meeting focused on Georgia’s current economic stance and progress achieved, both in terms of high economic growth and stable macroeconomic and fiscal parameters. 

The discussion also touched upon ongoing geopolitical challenges, including scenarios developed by the Fund in light of the crisis in the Middle East and trends in global and regional economic development. 

The meeting was attended by Deputy Ministers of Finance Giorgi Kakauridze and Ekaterine Guntsadze; Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States H.E. Tamar Taliashvili; NBG Vice-Presidents Ekaterine Mikabadze, Ekaterine Galdava and Nino Jeladze; MOF Department Head for State Debt Management Irakli Kacharava; NBG Department Head for Macroeconomics and Statistics Tamta Sopromadze.
