H.E. Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia along with H.E. Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia met today with Anna Bjerde, Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, who is visiting Tbilisi on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of Partnership between Georgia and the World Bank.

Meeting was attended by Sebastian Molineus, Regional Director of the World Bank for the South Caucasus, along with Deputy Ministers of Finance, Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

Parties once again highlighted the significance of close cooperation between the World Bank and Georgia since regaining its independence, as well as the reforms implemented within this period and progress achieved in various areas, including the infrastructure, energy, agriculture, rural development, human capital, innovations, digital economy and others.

Special focus was made on the decision made by Georgia upon the 30th anniversary of partnership to become a donor country of the International Development Association (IDA), which will manifest in the official signing of an agreement today.

As noted at the meeting, experience gained by the country and indicators of economic development make it possible for Georgia to join countries that support the World Bank Group in issuing concessional loans along with grants to the poorest, emerging economies of the planet.

The Georgian side shared information with the visiting dignitary on the current economic performance and updated macroeconomic parameters. Discussion was held on the impact of the military activities witnessed in Ukraine on the region and entire world.

On her part, Vice-President of the World Bank reiterated the commitment of the World Bank towards continued provision of full support in the process of significant reforms implemented in the country.
