"Stepantsminda is the natural gateway of our country and it has a historically significant strategic importance", - has stated in his speech Minister of Finance, Ivane Matchavariani at the ceremonial event dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia in Stepantsminda, at "Kazbegi" customs checkpoint.

He emphasized the historical role and importance of the region and the local population for our country.

“Each Georgian is in debt in front of locals, who did not leave this beautiful region, endure all the hardships, hard nature and vigilantly are defending gate of our country… Thank you for this", noted Ivane Matchavariani.


The Minister of Finance has expressed gratitude to each of the employees of the Ministry of Finance for the excellent service and high professionalism.

"Thanks to our current hosts, the employees of the “Kazbegi” Customs Checkpoint and all their colleagues in the whole country, every employee of the ministry, who serves for the freedom and development of our country with professionalism and dedication toward the Service. Today our State will pay particular respect to many of them. I wish, that their rewards today have been perceived, as an appreciation of those dignities, which should be exemplary for all of us,” – has noted the Ministry of Finance.

The ceremonial event dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia is currently underway one the territory of the Kazbegi customs checkpoint.

All the state structures are involved in the events of 26th of May and the administration of the Government of Georgia coordinates them.

26th of May - Independence Day of Georgia unites all the citizens of our Country. That is why the slogan of this day is "This Is Our Day".

In 2019, the Independence Day is dedicated to sharing of knowledge and its importance. Knowledge - as a driving force, as a path that leads to freedom.
