EUR 130 million will be spent for the construction and rehabilitation of new communal infrastructure in four municipalities of Georgia



With the support of the Federal Republic of Germany, EUR 130 million will be spent on the construction and rehabilitation of new communal infrastructure in four municipalities of Georgia: Bagdadi, Vani, Samtredia and Kazbegi.

The relevant agreement was signed today by the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Ivane Matchavariani, and the Regional Office Director of German Reconstruction Credit Institute (KfW) in South Caucasus, Klaus Weigel.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia, Hubert Knirsch and the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Mzia Giorgobiani also attended the signing ceremony.

The project will contribute to the rapid development of these regions, upgrade tourism infrastructure, improve the quality of services of the population and encourage the inflow of investment in the regions.

The project will be implemented by the “United Water Supply Company of Georgia”, LLC.

The projects are underway in Georgia with the financial support of the Federal Republic of Germany (through the KfW Development Bank and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ)). There are the following priority areas: development of urban and municipal infrastructure, construction of high voltage transmission lines, development of agriculture, education, small and medium business, improvement of IDP living conditions, protection of the environment and strengthening of local self-government.
