H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia had an introductory meeting with Ms. Mercy Tembon, new Regional Director of the World Bank in South Caucasus on September 7, 2015. Ms. Tembon will assume her official duties on October 1, Meeting was also attended by Mr. Henry Kerali, former Regional Director of the World Bank in South Caucasus.
As Minister of Finance noted, World Bank is an important partner of Georgia. It finances budget support programs, infrastructure and social projects. Minister expressed hopes that successful cooperation will continue with the new Regional Director and her team.
In the opinion of Regional Director of the World Bank in South Caucasus, project financing will be actively pursued further by the World Bank in Georgia within its Country Strategy with an aim of supporting significant project initiatives.
Minister once again thanked Mr. Henry Kerali for the outstanding partnership of the World Bank and Georgia during his term and stressed his personal contribution in a number of substantial products leading to the economic growth and development of Georgia.
Ms. Mercy Tembon, new Regional Director of the World Bank in South Caucasus has a wealth of experience in working for the international financial institution (IFI). She joined the World Bank in 2000 as an Education Specialist at Human Resources Department Division of the African Region. Prior to her appointment in Georgia, Ms. Tembon served at different positions, out of which two recent engagements were in Africa. First, she managed a World Bank Resident Office in Tanzania and later in Burkina Faso
